Vafa Guluzade's new book, "Caucasus Among Enemies and Friends" is a compilation of speeches, essays, articles and interviews that took place during the first decade of Azerbaijan's independence. In an unprecedented achievement, Guluzade, a career diplomat, served as political advisor to each of Azerbaijan's first three Presidents-Mutalibov, Elchibey and Heydar Aliyev. He headed Azerbaijan's delegation during negotiations with Armenia within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and was President Aliyev's personal representative in direct negotiations in regard to resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. He also was a member of Azerbaijan's National Security Council.

His goal in compiling these writings is to provide the general public with a personal perspective of some of the most significant foreign political events in the life of Azerbaijan, with particular emphasis on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in regard to Nagorno-Karabakh.
