Personal
Experiences - These Past Ten Years
Azer Talybov
Without a doubt, if the Soviet Union had not collapsed, life
would be much quieter, though much less interesting as well.
The most difficult struggle has just been to survive - to exist
- and to learn to take on considerably more responsibility for
our personal lives. Leisure time - that's what I miss the most.
To be sure, I don't miss having to think about and study Communist
ideas.
This period has really been an ideological, political and economic
revolution. I see three main problems: (1) the ideological problem
stemming from the lack of a single, strong national idea; (2)
the political problem of the geopolitical games that Russia and
Iran play in the region; and (3) the economic problems stemming
from rampant corruption.
