Children
Soak
Up Sun in Italy-Thanks to ENI
For the
fourth summer, ENI/Agip took refugee and needy children to the
Adriactic Sea in Italy for a three-week holiday.
Again this August
for the fourth consecutive year, ENI hosted a group of Azerbaijani
children at its holiday facilities in Cesenatico, a summer resort
town off the Adriatic coast.
Eni, cooperating with Agip Azerbaijan, its local subsidiary,
organized this exciting three-week summer holiday for 23 children,
ages 6-11.
The Azerbaijan component of this holiday program was originally
conceived in 1995 to provide physical and psychological relief
for some of the children living in refugee camps who had lost
their homes due to the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Again this year,
refugee children were among those chosen for this stimulating
and relaxing experience.
As has been the experience in years past, the Azerbaijani children
were quick to make new friends with the other Italian children
at the camp and soon overcame linguistic barriers. Their program
included sports-swimming, volleyball, basketball and soccer-and
various other activities at the beach, and numerous excursions
to artistic and historical sites.
Eros Agostinelli, Agip's Resident Manager in Baku, coordinated
this memorable event for the children along with assistance from
UNICEF, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Education and SOCAR (State Oil
Company of Azerbaijan).
