Text of report by Azerbaijani TV station ANS on May 22.

[Presenter] Taking into account that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is our common problem, it is important to learn the population's view on the subject [the Karabakh Armenians' involvement in the peace talks]. Thus, the public in the capital does not see Nagorno-Karabakh as a party to the talks on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

[Unidentified man] Nagorno-Karabakh should stay within the Azerbaijani Republic and I therefore strongly object to this.

[Two unidentified men] Strongly against, strongly.

[Correspondent] Do you think it possible for Nagorno-Karabakh to participate in the talks as a third party?

[Unidentified man] I do not think it is right to involve Nagorno-Karabakh as a third party to the talks.

[Unidentified woman] I think that Nagorno-Karabakh cannot be involved in the talks as a third party.

[Unidentified man] Nagorno-Karabakh does not have a status to be involved in the talks.

[Unidentified man] There can be only two parties [to the talks].

[Unidentified man] A third side's involvement is impossible.

[Unidentified man] In my view, Nagorno-Karabakh's participation in the process as a third party is absurd.

[Presenter] Azerbaijani MPs do not see Nagorno-Karabakh a party to the talks on resolving the Karabakh conflict.

[Ruling New Azerbaijan Party MP Anar Akhundzada, uncaptioned] Nagorno-Karabakh should never be involved as a third party. The parties are Armenia and Azerbaijan.

[MP Mubariz Gurbanli, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's Deputy Executive Secretary, uncaptioned] This is possible in the final stage of the talks. But it is impossible now.

[Namus Party leader, MP Toghrul Ibrahimli, uncaptioned] I think that their involvement as a party to the talks is unnecessary and impossible today.

[Civic Solidarity Party leader and MP Sabir Rustamkhanli, uncaptioned] Only on condition that Nagorno-Karabakh's Azerbaijani community participates in the talks as well.

[People's Front of Azerbaijan Party MP Alimammad Nuriyev, uncaptioned] Nagorno-Karabakh's Armenian and Azerbaijani communities can participate in the talks as interested parties, but, of course, it is unacceptable to involve them as independent parties.

[Motherland Party Chairman, MP Fazail Aghamali, uncaptioned] In future both the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno-Karabakh can participate in the peace agreement process.

[MP Vagif Samadoghlu, uncaptioned] It could be accepted if representatives of the Azerbaijani community participated in this.

[Ruling New Azerbaijan Party MP Sayyad Aran, uncaptioned] There is no concrete reason for their involvement yet.
